Outdoors

Because the sky was a turquoise
they went barefoot-walking once along the beach
a midsummer night long long ago

because the sky was a turquoise
in their charged ecstasy time
they went forward impetuously and dream-like

because the sky was a turquoise
thoughts of fire and gold were visible
in their van-Dyck-brown icon faces

because the sky was a turquoise
the sea was an aquamarine
and love’s soul a sapphire blue flower

Because the sky was a turquoise
they’re walking through blue spaces
while there’s still light
